The Grand National is steeped in history and dates back to the first run race in 1836 that was won by The Duke who again won the following year. The race is ran over 4 miles 514 yards with 30 fences jumping which is why it is widely regarded as the ultimate test for both horse and jockey.
There has however been many successful Jockey’s over the years who have been victorious on multiple occasions. Check out the infographic below to see just who they are!
There is expected to be around 500 to 600 million people watching the race around the world which further shows that it is one of the most viewed sporting events each year. Last year’s winner One for Arthur has unfortunately been ruled out of the race so will not be back to defend his crown.
Looking ahead to the 2018 race and it is the Willie Mullins trained Irish horse Total Recall heading the betting. The Paddy Power horse racing odds make him the 10/1 market leader ahead of the 12/1 Blaklion. It looks as competitive as ever so is certainly a race to savour for racing fans.
