Chris Eubank Jnr and George Groves to fight live on ITV as broadcaster signs World Boxing Super Series

September 5, 2017 - Staff

ITV has won exclusive rights to the new World Boxing Super Series, which includes world title bouts between high-profile cruiserweight and super-middleweight fighters including Chris Eubank Jr and George Groves.

Fights will be shown on ITV Box Office, the broadcaster’s pay per view channel, ITV4 or on the ITV Hub.

Four quarter-finals in each weight division lead into two semi-finals before a live finale in May 2018.

Fights being shown live on ITV Box Office include Eubank Jr v Avni Yildirim on October 7, and Groves v James Cox for the WBA ‘super’ world title on October 14.

Live coverage begins with the WBC Diamond super-middleweight title fight between Callum Smith and Erik Skoglund on Saturday September 16 on ITV4.

The tournament begins this Saturday September 9 with post-fight on-demand coverage of the WBO World cruiserweight title bout between Oleksandr Usyk v Marco Huck.

Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, says: “Live coverage of this brand new tournament featuring some of British boxing’s most exciting talents is something we hope will appeal to keen fight fans and sports enthusiasts across the country.

“Chris Eubank Jr won his first world title and defended it on ITV Box Office and this marks the next step in his development.

“The potential of a mouth-watering match-up with George Groves adds to the prestige of this new series.”
