BT has announced that it’s Ultra HD sports channel will be available as part of a TV bundle costing just £15 per month.

For that aggressively low price, customers will receive the BT Sport Ultra HD channel, a new 4K compatible set top box (STB), 47 Premium channels including 13 in HD and a voucher entitling them to up to £500 off an LG 4K UHD TV.

The new channel will launch on August 2 with live coverage of the FA Community Shield match at Wembley between Chelsea and Arsenal.

It’ll also show the first game of the Barclays Premier League when Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday, August 8 plus selected live coverage from the UEFA Champions League, Barclays Premier League, FA Cup, Aviva Premiership Rugby and MotoGP.

Delia Bushell, managing director of BT TV and BT Sport, said: “The best way to watch BT Sport is with BT TV. BT Sport Ultra HD is the next step in high definition TV and provides a truly cinematic viewing experience and is available only on BT TV.

“The BT Sport Ultra HD channel will bring you closer to the action than ever before. The picture quality is absolutely amazing – it’s four times the detail of today’s high definition TV.

“We are proud to be innovating and leading the UK TV market with our Entertainment Ultra HD package which offers customers the best in premium TV.”

As with BT’s current line up of set top boxes, the new model has been developed in partnership with YouView, the aerial/broadband hybrid TV platform which BT co-owns alongside the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Channel 5 and TalkTalk.

Richard Halton, CEO of YouView commented: “We are immensely proud of the partnership with BT to deliver the first Ultra HD set top box in the UK.

“This ground-breaking delivery cements YouView’s ability to create consumer technology that shapes our industry.”

Customers will need a BT line and the ISP’s Infinity fibre broadband to receive BT Sport Ultra HD.
